Adult Services Reference Assistant - Forest Park Public Library

We’re looking for a service-oriented person to join a creative and collaborative reference team in staffing a busy reference desk. This staff member will be able to contribute to the library’s blog; provide readers’ advisory service; assist with programming, promotions, and collection development; and instruct patrons in the use of computer-based resources. Creative ideas for new projects are always encouraged!

Hours: 30 hours per week including evenings and weekends. We can be flexible with a school schedule.

Requirements: Applicants for this position must be extremely tech-savvy, have the ability to deal with the public in a positive manner, and demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. A bachelor’s degree or LTA is required. Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary: Starts at $14.16 hourly.

LIBRARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
PORTLAND CEMENT ASSOCIATION

The Portland Cement Association (PCA), a major national trade association, is seeking a part-time, detail-oriented individual with library experience to work in the organization’s 100,000-volume research library. PCA conducts market development, engineering, research, education and public affairs programs. The position involves primarily technical services-related responsibilities, including OCLC copy cataloging and interlibrary loan, circulation, document delivery, shelving, journal routing, and data entry.

Qualifications: Excellent computer skills, high level of accuracy, detail-oriented, knowledge/understanding of bibliographic data, multitasking skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently. Some college; LTA or 2 years’ experience working in a library, preferably technical services. Working knowledge of OCLC for cataloging or interlibrary loan a plus.

Hours:15 hours/week (flexible hours between 8:00-4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. No weekends.

POSITION:
Interlibrary Loan/Reference Specialist
Libraries and Instructional Services

TYPE OF POSITION:
Specialist, Full-time


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Interlibrary Loan/Reference Specialist, under the supervision of the Dean/Libraries & Instructional Services, or designee, coordinates the timely and efficient operation of the ILL/Document Delivery Services, supports the library faculty in their instructional activities, and maintains the reference lab.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree
Minimum three years experience working in a library
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating system


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Library Technical Assistant Degree
Experience with Iliad or other interlibrary loan software
Experience with Millennium Integrated Library System
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills


SALARY/HOURS:

The starting salary for this position is $32,400. Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. These hours may vary in accordance with the needs of the College.
