Paul Simon Student Essay Contest

Each year, the Illinois Community College Trustees Association sponsors a statewide student essay contest.  The Paul Simon Student Essay Contest  provides a one-time $500 scholarship to the student who best describes “How My Community College has Changed My Life.”  All full- and part-time students are eligible to participate.  Please encourage your students to enter the contest.  The CLC winner will be honored by the Board of Trustees with a recognition plaque and will represent the college in the state competition.  The winner of the state competition will receive a $500 cash stipend for educational expenses for the fall 2013 semester.

Contest Rules
Essays must be less than 500 words, typed, and address the theme “How My Community College has Changed My Life.”  Students may also create their own title related to the theme.  Entries will be judged on the basis of writing style, clarity of expression, and relevancy to the topic, with special emphasis on correct grammar.

Deadline
Essays must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, in the Office of the President, Room A207.
