Job Description: Provides excellent patron service to adults and children of all ages and backgrounds as a member of our public services team.

Requirements: LTA, Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience; A customer service attitude that includes positive interpersonal communications skills for working with patrons and staff.; Ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities calmly and positively; Verbal and written communications skills; Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English; Computer literacy including internet and database searching skills; site evaluation; Ability to read computer screens, type accurately and quickly, and move around entire public service area easily; Fluency in a second language preferred.

Salary: 13.85/hr

Job Posting - Library Associates Companies

Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Head of Technical Services and Automation for a full-time position at the Messenger Public Library of North Aurora (North Aurora, Illinois). Under the direct supervision and in consultation with the Library Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Technical Services Department and computer operations of the Library. Work involves providing supervision and management of the department. Supervises up to 4 staff members.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Library’s Technical Services Department. This includes the acquisitions and cataloging of library materials. Familiarity with MARC cataloging and copy cataloging.
· Responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Automation/Technology Services infrastructure of the Library. All Library computer network operations and the coordination and management of the Library automation system operations with the DuPage Library System MAGIC Consortium.
· Provide training, guidance, leadership and supervision to a staff of four.
· Providing technology support services for Library Staff and patrons.
· Coordinating with the Library Administrator and Management Team the implementation of the Library’s Long Range Technology Plan.
· Manager/Supervisor in-charge of facilities and staff one evening per week (Thursdays) and one weekend per month.
· Keeping current with developments in the profession through reading and networking with colleagues to assist the Library Administrator and Library Management Team in planning and implementing new technologies information services and methodologies.

Required Qualifications:
· Prefer MLS from an ALA accredited library school. Minimum preference is a four year
college degree or an LTA Certificate with computer networking/hardware/software
experience working in a Library environment.
· Supervisory experience
· Management and budget skills
· Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to work independently and as a
team leader
· Comfortable working with new technologies and innovations in a constantly evolving
environment
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
· Desire and ability to provide excellent customer service
