Internship Available - Glenview Public Library

The Glenview Public Library has an opening for a Marketing Intern, with special focus on website development and content management, in the Communications Department. The Glenview Public Library opened a new 85,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in October 2010. The Communications team is building a new website to reflect the Library’s new brand and support its many new services.

The Marketing Intern supports all aspects of the daily operations of the Communications Department. The primary focus of the position is the new website development nd maintenance, which includes, but is not limited to, research and content management. This internship presents a unique opportunity to assist in the branding of a major community institution, to gain first-hand experience in website migration, and to promote/plan programs that are earning the Library the reputation as the cultural center of downtown Glenview.

The ideal candidate has:
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and the Adobe Suite of programs. Web skills are especially valuable.
• A working knowledge of social networking and a point of view about how to best use it as an educational and marketing tool.
• Experience in marketing, public relations, event coordination, and/or non-profit environment.
• Ability to work both as part of a strong team and independently, to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines, and to multi-task, all with efficiency and attention to detail.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Research, recommend, and manage content for the development and maintenance of the new website.
• Other duties will depend on the Intern’s skill set and objectives for their progress in this position.
• Above and beyond, there is opportunity to assist the with the Glenview Public Library’s marketing/public relations functions and adult enrichment program management, including press release writing/distribution, special event/program coordination, display and art exhibit planning, proofreading, and the varied administrative/production functions of the Communications Office.
