Job Summary:Processing of periodicals issues including check in, shelving, cataloging and maintenance using Voyager integrated library system. Contact with periodical vendors, claiming items not received to ensure that the library receives issues it has purchased. Work with various electronic products and the Head of Technical Services to ensure that patrons have access to all electronic subscriptions. Prepare and process all library materials to be bound. Assist with processing and data entry for archival collections. Perform clerical activities such as filing, typing, word processing, scanning and mail sorting. Work at Reference Desk several hours per week, answering routine inquiries and referring patrons in need of professional assistance to librarians. Apply online at www.elmhurst.edu.  
Minimum Qualifications:Excellent organizational and problem solving skills, detail oriented, able to work independently, able to lift/carry 40lbs. BA degree required. LTA or prior library experience required, working knowledge and experience in Windows, office applications, and databases.

Paul Simon Student Essay Contest


Each year, the Illinois Community College Trustees Association sponsors a statewide student essay contest.  The Paul Simon Student Essay Contest  provides a one-time $500 scholarship to the student who best describes “How My Community College has Changed My Life.”  All full- and part-time students are eligible to participate.  Please encourage your students to enter the contest.  The CLC winner will be honored by the Board of Trustees with a recognition plaque and will represent the college in the state competition.  The winner of the state competition will receive a $500 cash stipend for educational expenses for the fall 2013 semester.

Contest Rules
Essays must be less than 500 words, typed, and address the theme “How My Community College has Changed My Life.”  Students may also create their own title related to the theme.  Entries will be judged on the basis of writing style, clarity of expression, and relevancy to the topic, with special emphasis on correct grammar. 

Deadline
Essays must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, in the Office of the President, Room A207.

Networking by building a community of colleagues and expanding your resources will help you reach your goals. You are welcome to drop in before or after class to view short videos about non-traditional careers, changing careers, women in non-traditional work like engineering and welding or men in nursing and early childhood studies. Learn how to find a mentor and gain experience in your field of study. Discussions will follow while enjoying the refreshments offered.
