Hello everyone,
This year I have an exciting offer from the coordinators of the Reaching Forward Conference and Illinois Library Association. If you don't know, Reaching Forward is a yearly conference specifically for library staff (or LTA students!) in academic, public, school, and special libraries. It will be held this year on May 6th, 2011 at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. For more information on the conference visit their website:
http://www.reachingforward.net/conference.php. The cost to attend this event is usually $125 to register, but here's where the wonderful opportunity comes in.
There are six open slots for volunteers to work at the Reaching Forward conference. By volunteering to assist (more details below), the conference registration fee will be fully covered. The only expense you will have is $25 for lunch and the fee for parking. This is a significant savings and an excellent opportunity!
There are six slots available (I will update as the slots are filled):
Program Assistant - help with
one of the sessions below
(one person per program):- 10:30-11:30 Is Your Indoor Air Toxic? Home and Work Applications for Safer, Healthier Breathing SLOT FILLED
- 10:30 - 11:30 Never Put Ketchup On a Hot Dog! SLOT FILLED
- 2:15 - 3:15 DIY for YAs SLOT FILLED
- 2:15 - 3:15 Support Staff and Collection Development: a Winning Combination SLOT FILLED
Parking Assistant (for early birds) - help in the parking garage. Suggest to conference visitors to pay for their parking before they leave the garage to avoid long lines at the end of the conference. Once it gets close to the opening (around 8:00 am) you can join in for the registration/networking and continental breakfast and relax and enjoy the rest of the day. Two people needed. BOTH SLOTS FILLED
If you are interested, please email me at achernaik@clcillinois.edu. Include your name and contact information as well as the slot you would like to fill (i.e. which one of the sessions OR a parking slot).
Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to be a part of a conference designed specifically for you and your future profession.
