Information Desk Assistant, Schaumburg Township District Library

Seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented Library Assistant to assist our diverse community in person and on the telephone in locating materials, registering for programs, retrieving magazines and using meeting rooms. Schedule: Tues and Thurs 12-4 pm, 2nd and 5th Sat 9:30 am -5 pm, 2 Fri nights per month 4-10 pm. Additional fill-in hours may be available. Customer service experience and outstanding customer service skills required. Strong computer skills, comfort learning new technologies, and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment required. Previous library experience preferred. LTA preferred. Starts at $11.39/hr. Poster Session

Students in LTA 230, Library Public Services, will present a poster session on Monday, November 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room L-032. Each team will present their concept for a cultural library program. This is a great time to cheer on your classmates! Or come to see a little slice of the curriculum in one of our new classes. Classes for Spring 2008

The following classes will be offered this spring. LTA 121, Introduction to Library Science, Wednesday 6-8:45 p.m.; LTA 232, Reference and Information Services; Monday 6-8:45 p.m.; LTA 250, Children's Library Services, Wednesday, 6-8:45; and LTA 274, Supervisory and Work Place Skills for the LTA, Thursday 6-8:45. We will also offer LTA 276 and LTA 278, Supervised Field Practicum. If you are thinking of doing a practicum, please contact me as soon as possible so you can begin working on a placement. Open registration begins November 26!
