Support Staff, Full-Time
Technical Process Specialist I

Salary Grade: E ($13.27 per hour – minimum of the salary range)
Exempt/Non Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Main Campus

FUNCTION:
Assist the Technical Services Librarian by performing paraprofessional library duties and providing clerical support as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with ordering library materials.
-Check requested titles against RLRC holdings.
-Locate bibliographic data for requested titles (publisher, ISBN, etc.).
-Enter orders on an electronic ordering system. • Update bibliographic records from
OCLC to library system (Innovative).
-Maintain acquisition files.
2. Maintain all records related to the library’s program of allowing staff to purchase books
through the library including bibliographic searching, ordering, figuring cost, and notifying
staff.
3. Check in shipments of library materials and post invoices on the library’s automated system.
4. Notify faculty/staff that materials they requested for the library have arrived.
5. Maintain inventory of library supplies (book jackets, tape, labels, security targets, etc.).
6. Check in shipments of library supplies.
7. Assist on OCLC (an online bibliographic utility) by searching for bibliographic records and
doing preliminary cataloguing of records for librarians.
8. Made additions, deletions and corrections to bibliographic records on the RLRC’s automated
system (Innovative Interfaces).
9. Prepare materials for reserve shelves including temporary cataloging, physical preparations of
materials, maintain the reserve module on the automated library system, and see that
personal materials are returned to the instructor.
10. Download bibliographic records from OCLC or, in some cases, original cataloging of telecourse
tapes. Maintain bibliographic item records and label all telecourse tapes located in the RLRC
(Main Campus Library) as well as sets at FSQ (Fountain Square).
11. Prepare labels for books and non-print materials using appropriate computer software.
12. Keep monthly statistics.
13. Maintain check-in records for all monographic serials an standing order on the automated
library system (Innovative Interfaces).
14. Responsible for weekly full and daily backups of the library automated system (Innovative
Interfaces), including scheduling, and running backups.
15. Maintain archival tapes of library system’s full backup, including recent full backup tape in
remote storage.
16. Assign work to Senior Library Assistants or Part-Time Circulation Clerks.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Type and maintain office correspondence files related to Technical Services as well as other
office routines.
2. Provide backup for the circulation desk when necessary.
3. Prepare books for bindery. Upon return from bindery, prepare books for return to the
collection (main stacks).
4. Other duties as assigned that relate to the job description.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Two years library experience. Associate degree in library technology preferred.
2. Familiarity with OCLC or other bibliographic utility.
