Preservation Assistant -- American Theological Library Association

The Preservation Assistant performs a variety of services in support of ATLA’s preservation grants and projects. Essential duties and responsibilities include: searching bibliographic utilities to retrieve information about preservation titles; searching remote library catalogs on-site and via modem and the Internet; work obtaining, collating, and returning materials for preservation; performing quality assurance on preservation formats, including microfilm and digital objects; evaluating and submitting invoices; and maintaining metadata regarding the materials preserved. Peripheral duties may also involve the physical retrieval and basic organization of items for the ATLA Archives. Applicants possessing a college degree in the humanities or social sciences are preferred. They should also have excellent communication skills, excellent record-keeping skills, basic computer skills (including word processing, reliable database file management and data entry), demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to understand bibliographic records. This position is a two-year grant-funded position and reports to the Manager of Preservation Projects. Salary is negotiable. Review of applications begins April 10, 2008.
