Brookfield Zoo - Practicum Placement for Spring - Hurry!
Here's an awesome opportunity for a spring practicum! It's at the Brookfield Zoo!
Chicago Zoological Society Brookfield Zoo opened in 1934 and added a library in the early 1960’s. It boasts 8,000 volumes and 150 periodicals, including electronic resources. The library is a full service library which supports all the departments at the zoo—Animal Programs, Animal Behavior, Keepers, Marketing, Development, Corporate Sponsorship, HR, 600 volunteers and the President’s office with research, interlibrary loan, circulation, cataloging, archival research & preservation. It is a great special library because it is a little bit of an academic library, public and business library all rolled into one.
Read more about the application process here: http://www.czs.org/CZS/internships But hurry if you are interested! The deadline is October 24, 2011. A paragraph or so will do, so don't be intimidated. Also, it's been brought to my attention that the application info mentions a 40 hour work week for 12 weeks. A shorter time commitment is acceptable for LTA students. So, just go for it!
