Win Cash for Your Essay!

Has your community college experience been an important influence in your life? If so, consider entering the 2007 Paul Simon Student Essay Contest, sponsored by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA). This is an opportunity for students to win a $500 scholarship for the fall 2007 semester. All currently enrolled students are eligible to participate. The essay must be brief (less than 500 words), typed, double-spaced, and address the theme "How My Community College Has Changed My Life." The theme can be used as the essay's title, or students can create their own title related to the theme. Entries will be judged on the basis of writing style, clarity of expression, and relevancy to the topic. Selection and Scholarship Entries will be reviewed by a committee, and one essay will be chosen to represent CLC in the statewide competition. The winner of the CLC competition will also be recognized at the Board of Trustees meeting, and will receive a recognition plaque and read the winning essay. The winner in the state competition will receive a $500 cash stipend, and will be invited to attend the ICCTA's awards banquet in June 2007 in Springfield. All essays must be received in the Office of the President, Room A207, by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007.
